Many birds are fed diets which contain quite large quantities of fruit and vegetables. Often people believe that these diets require no supplementation.
This is wrong! In fact these diets can still be seriously deficient in many vitamins, minerals and protein. It is also important to recognise that most fruits contain about 90% water. So a diet that may appear (by
volume or weight) to be 50% seed and 50% fruit is actually closer to 95% seed and 5% fruit!! Fruits and vegetables (including sprouted peas and beans) make an excellent carrier for supplements. To help you
